2023 NCVGA Cup Competition

Description

NCVGA Cup is an annual competition with multiple events over an entire season. The main purpose is to promote participation in the club monthly tournaments and to motivate player's skills improvement throughout the year.

The 2023 NCVGA Cup begins with the December 2022 tournament and ends with the August 2023 tournament for a total of nine (9) tournaments.

NCVGA Club members can earn NCVGA Cup points by participating in the specified monthly NCVGA Club Tournaments as stated above. For these specific tournaments, the points are awarded based on a player's NET finishing result with first placed to earn 500 points, second placed 300 points, third place 190 points, etc., with emphasis on wins and high finishes. A similar points award system as of The PGA's FedExCup. A minimum of 50 points will be awarded to each player who participates in each of these tournaments. Points will be accumulated over the entire long season. At the conclusion of the NCVGA August 2023 tournament, players with the most points win the competition.

Awards and Prizes

  1. Champion: 1st place Trophy and $1000 cash

  2. First Runner Up: 2nd place Trophy and $500 cash

  3. Second Runner Up: 3rd place Trophy and $300 cash

  4. Fourth and Fifth: $100 cash

  5. Sixth to Tenth: one box of Titleist ProV1 or similar values

  6. Thirteenth and Nineteenth places are considered lucky winners: one box of Titleist ProV1 or similar values

Tournament Handicaps

To ensure a fair competition among the members, the handicap index used in club tournaments will be the LOWER of either:

  1. The current GHIN handicap index, OR

  2. The average of the lowest 3 differentials in previous club tournaments over the rolling 12 months (minimum 2 tournaments). For examples:

    • Tuan Fireman's GHIN is 4.7, the average of his 3 lowest tournament differentials is 2.1. His club tournament handicap index will be 2.1

    • Sonny's GHIN is 16.1, the average of his 3 lowest tournament differentials is 18.2. His club tournament handicap index will be 16.1

Special Fine Prints

  1. Only current standing NCVGA members are eligible to receive award points. In addition, the NET ranking is among the participating members. Results from guests will not be counted for ranking purpose.

  2. In case of a tie, the tie breaker is the club points earned in the August club tournament. If still tie, then the July tournament, and so on.

  3. For team events, the club points awards will be increased by 1.6x for 2 two-person team (400 points each for 1st place) and by 2.4x for a 4-person team (300 points each for 1st place)

  4. The Club Championship is a two-day event so the Championship Club Point will be twice compared to the monthly Club Tournament’s club points

  5. Decisions and rulings by the Tournament Committee and the Tournament Director are final.
